But! It turns out you can melt plastic (certain types) using something kinda low heat, like a panini press. You can then reshape it into whatever you want - like ping pong paddles.

Or floating research stations.

So, where to start?

Probably just by cleaning up local beaches and turning #2 plastic into rad things.

And where to end?

A massive floating ocean research station / education center, built by cleaning up the ocean.

PS. Yes I understand there are some wild complexities to this, and there are many steps between here and there.

Except without the wind turbines. Calm waters preferred :)

What help do we need?

Sure some sort of plastics engineer would be cool. But I think pretty much anyone could start this project. You'd need to be ok cleaning trash, and you'd need to be excited as heck to get out there and find bottle caps!
